About Alco Products Inc.
We treat your home the way we want our homes treated.
We’re a family-owned company, and have been for 3 generations. That means that serving you is in our blood – and we want to be more than just “that company that did your windows.”
We don’t believe that our relationship with you ends with your home installation.
We believe that’s when our relationship STARTS.
We respect your time, your home, and your needs at every step of the way.
Here’s what happens when you call Alco:
You’ll choose an appointment time that works with your schedule – whether it’s during the day, in the evening or on a weekend. Our representative will call when he’s on the way to let you know that he’ll arrive soon, and will arrive at your home dressed neatly in a logoed polo shirt and dress pants… except on Friday (that’s jeans day!)
We do NOT believe in 2-3 hour “hard sell” appointments.
We respect your time FAR too much for that. Here’s how the process works for each product type:
During a Window Installation:
- Walk through your home and review the windows that you’d like replaced.
- Discuss your options as far as styles, frames and custom options
- Answer any questions you have about your replacement window project
- Give you a timely quote and estimated timeframe of completion. (In most cases. For complex custom work, we may need 48 hours to research your price.)
Once you’re ready to move forward with your Alco window project, our senior window installer will come and measure every window that you would like to replace.
During that time, he will also note any valuable property that should be moved prior to our arrival – this is to ensure the safety of your objects! – and any furniture that the installation team will move before they begin.
On the day of installation, we’ll inspect the inside of your wall as the window is removed to ensure that the structure is sound and the installation will begin.
Our factory-trained installation team uses dropcloths, furniture pads, and foot protectors to ensure that your home stays as clean as we found it.
Upon completion, our installation crew will clean all of your new windows, remove the manufacturer stickers and place them into a folder for you, put your furniture back into place and broom-sweep the work area clean.
During a Siding Installation:
- We’ll walk around the property and discuss any areas that are caused for concern.
- We’ll inspect in your home to determine whether any water is entering your home.
- We will discuss your options with you in regard to your materials options.
- We’ll answer any questions you have about your siding project.
- Give you an immediate quote and estimated timeframe of completion. (In most cases. For complex work, we may need 48 hours to research your price.)
Once you’re ready to move forward with your replacement siding project, our senior installer will come and complete the final measurements for your siding. We’ll make note of any yard obstacles that need to be avoided as well.
On the day of the installation, we will start as early as possible. We’ll have checked the weather report to ensure that we have a clear forecast – although we do keep a house-sized tarp on the truck in case of a rogue storm. Depending on the project, we will either remove the existing siding or install your new siding on top. If we remove your existing siding, we will inspect underlaying material and replace any rotted pieces.
Our installers are all factory trained and certified and have been with Alco for over 10 years- which means that they meet the standards set by the manufacturers of our product in addition to Alco standards. At the end of each work day, the grounds around your home will be swept with a magnet to catch any stray nails. All trash will be cleaned up and put into the dumpster that we bring onsite.
During a Roofing Installation:
- We’ll bring up an aerial view of your roof to preview your roof and get an accurate measurement.
- We’ll inspect in your attic (if possible) to determine whether any water is entering your home.
- We will discuss your options with you in regard to your materials options.
- We’ll answer any questions you have about your roofing project.
- Give you an immediate quote and estimated timeframe of completion. (In most cases. For complex work, we may need 48 hours to research your price.)

As we remove your existing shingles, we will inspect the plywood sheeting and replace any rotted pieces. Your home will get upgraded underlayment over top of that, and we’ll also give you ice and water shield to protect against ice-damming.
All the pipes and vents that are coming out of your house will get new pipe collars, and chimneys will be re-flashed. And every home that Alco works on gets a new ridge vent (which goes on top of the roof and protects against moisture buildup in the attic.)
At the completion of the job – which happens in one day for most cases – the grounds around your home will be swept with a magnet to catch any stray nails. All trash will be cleaned up and put into the dumpster that we bring onsite.
During a Door Installation:
- We’ll examine your doors to determine whether they’re operating at their peak efficiency
- Can water enter your home?
- Are there any drafts?
- Are your doors cracked, warped, dented or otherwise showing wear?
- Are your doors hanging level on the hinges?
- Does your door close easily and flush against the jamb?
- We will discuss your options with you in regard to your materials options.
- We’ll answer any questions you have about your doors.
- Give you an immediate quote and estimated timeframe of completion. (In most cases. For complex work, we may need 48 hours to research your price.)

Our License
Choosing a contractor who is unlicensed leaves you open to a variety of problems, not the least of which that there is no governing body ensuring that contractor has completed all of his or her requirements.
Many times, unlicensed contractors are able to “cut corners” and provide a more shoddy workmanship – leaving your home vulnerable and your money wasted.
ALCO is one of the first companies licensed in the State of Maryland, and we hold active licenses in Virginia, Maryland & Washington D.C.
