Residential Siding in the Washington D.C. area
The siding on your Washington D.C. home has two big jobs: make your home look beautiful and protect what’s inside from what’s happening outside. When it comes to protecting your home from moisture, mildew, or mold, siding plays an important role in keeping rain and snow from penetrating your walls as well as keeping heat where it’s supposed to be. This happens in multiple layers – the siding itself forms the first protective barrier, but there’s also an underlying layer that also keeps your home dry and comfortable.
The way your home looks can vary dramatically depending on the siding you choose. You can choose a stone veneer siding for a more stately colonial look or James Hardie Fiber Cement Shingles for a casual, cottage style. You can choose a bright vinyl siding to stand out from your neighbors, or a muted color to blend in with the nature around you. Whatever choice you make, ALCO’s design and installation specialists can help you make the best decisions for your home – inside and outside.
James Hardie Siding in Washington D.C.
James Hardie siding is unmatched when it comes to beauty and durability for your Washington D.C. home. Engineered to withstand the temperature fluctuations that accompany the Washington D.C. area’s season changes, Hardie Siding is as long-lasting as it is beautiful.
James Hardie Fiber Cement Siding has quickly become one of the most popular siding choices for homeowners across the country. It’s designed to mimic wood siding but is created of four ingredients: water, wood pulp, Portland cement, and sand. These four ingredients together create siding that’s rot-proof, wind and cold resistant, fireproof, and termite proof.
If you’re considering wood siding for a luxury look, think about how James Hardie Siding can give you the luxury look without the upkeep that wood siding brings – along with all the options and versatility James Hardie has in their product line.
When installed properly, James Hardie Fiber Cement siding can withstand winds up to 130 mph and is also designed to withstand the humidity and cold that our summers and winters can bring. Plus, unlike wood siding, James Hardie Fiber Cement Siding won’t need to be repainted every few years – they treat all their siding with Color Plus technology and they guarantee their color won’t peel or flake. With its baked-on color technology, Hardie siding is designed to resist fading, even in the hot summer sun. And because its materials are created specifically for our climate, it won’t peel or crack. This gives you a maintenance-free finish to your home for years to come. No painting or repairs required!
Your home’s exterior is the first impression you give – and with James Hardie, that impression will be one of luxury and taste.

Our Siding Installation Process in Washington D.C.
We start with our free design consultation where we review the area of your home you’d like upgraded, talk with you about your options, and in most cases give you an immediate quote and timeframe for completion. (For complex work, we may ask for 48 hours to research your price.)
Once your materials have been ordered, our senior installer will complete the final measurements for your siding. We’ll make note of any yard obstacles that need to be avoided and any special notes for your project. Then we’ll place the order to your project’s exact specifications!
On installation day, we’ll check the weather report to ensure we have a clear forecast (even though we keep a house-sized tarp on our trucks just in case!) and we’ll begin work as early as possible. If we remove your existing siding (not required for all projects), we’ll inspect underlying material and alert you of any issues. Each of our installation specialists is factory-trained and has been working with us for over 10 years – which means they not only meet ALCO’s tough standards, they also meet those of the manufacturer.
At the end of each workday, we’ll clean the grounds around your home with a magnet to catch any stray nails and all trash will be cleaned and placed into the dumpster we’ll bring on site with us.
